Rabanal del Camino was a pretty little village which offered us very good accommodation and excellent meals. As we had lunch we spoke with our Dutch friends who had spent time in Australia. They were biking the Camino, and a little surprised that we had arrived here from Astorga before them. We also encountered a fellow whom we had already seen a number of times on the Camino since the earliest days. Dennis and I nicknamed him Barbaro, after a bloke who haunted us for days on our visit to Cuba in January 1997. The village is home to a small Benetictine Community who celebrate various liturgies in the local church, one of which we attended with other pilgrims. This was one of the few experiences of prayer and blessing offered to pilgrims along the Camino unfortunately, and it was interesting to note how disposed the pilgrims were to enter into the spirit of prayer.
